• Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.3 or higher.<br />

Transfer students may apply if they have completed at least 15 semester hours, have at least four<br />

semesters remaining in college, and meet at least one of the following criteria:<br />

• Good standing in an honors program in current or prior college;<br />

• Cumulative grade point average of 3.5 in college; or<br />

• 3.5 grade point average in the last 24 semester hours taken in college.<br />

Current students at <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> may apply if they have completed at least 15 semester hours,<br />

Application Procedure<br />

Obtain an application packet from the Director of the <strong>University</strong> Honors Program:<br />

Have the required reference forms returned directly to the Director, as detailed in the application<br />

packet, and complete an interview with the Honors Committee or its designee.<br />

Academic Expectations<br />

Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 in order to remain in good standing in<br />

the Program. Students who fail to maintain a GPA of 3.3 for more than one semester will be withdrawn<br />

from the Program.<br />

THE BOWIE STATE SATELLITE OPERATION AND CONTROL CENTER<br />

The <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> Satellite Operation and Control Center (BSOCC) is a joint venture between<br />

<strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> and NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center. This unique program features a student<br />

training facility and NASA control center located on the <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> campus.<br />

Under the supervision of professionals, students take part in the daily work of spacecraft flight<br />

operations, earning several different levels of mission controller certification.<br />

Through BSOCC, the university has developed outreach activities that raise community awareness in<br />

aeronautics and space technology. As students participate in the monitoring satellites, they receive<br />

opportunities to study and pursue careers in new science and technology fields.<br />
