curriculum, and such other evidence, including the recommendations of appropriate<br />

high school officials, as may be deemed indicative of the ability of the applicant to<br />

complete a course of study in college leading to a degree.<br />

b. Applicants who have graduated from high school within three years prior to submission<br />

of the admission application must also submit SAT or ACT scores. The test results are<br />

required before an admission decision will be made. Applicants whose graduating date<br />

is three or more years before their proposed enrollment date will not be required to<br />

take the SAT or ACT.<br />

c. All entering freshmen will be administered placement tests in reading, English, and<br />

mathematics to determine their strengths and weaknesses. Students scoring below a<br />

predetermined minimum standard on these examinations will be required to participate<br />

in academic programs designed to eliminate deficiencies in these basic skills.<br />

d. Transfer students who enter the <strong>University</strong> with fewer than 24 semester hours and do<br />

not transfer math and English will be subject to the testing requirements outlined above<br />

(paragraph C) for skill assessment and maintenance and to eliminate any deficiencies in<br />

basic skills. In addition, transfer students who enter with fewer than 24 credits will be<br />

required to submit the SAT or ACT results.<br />

e. Admission prior to graduation from high school shall be conditional upon completion of<br />

the high school curriculum in a manner that would qualify the student for admission<br />

under paragraph 2A.<br />

3. Special non‐degree applicants (concurrent enrollment) are high school students who are taking<br />

undergraduate courses but are not working toward a degree. The applicants must meet the<br />

following requirements for admission:<br />

a. Submit a completed application with the application fee and unofficial transcript(s) and<br />

b. Pay the standard fee per credit hour each semester. If an applicant decides at a later<br />

date to matriculate, he/she must reapply and provide official documents as outlined<br />

above.<br />

4. Admission: GED Students<br />

Students who have received their high school diploma through a GED program and who wish to<br />

apply for admission to the <strong>University</strong> must submit their high school transcripts (if applicable),<br />

SAT or ACT scores (if applicable) and GED test scores for consideration. GED students whose<br />

normal graduating date would have been three or more years prior to their proposed<br />

enrollment are not required to submit SAT, ACT scores. In order to be admitted, an applicant<br />

must present an average score of 50, with no score below 45 on any of the five parts of the test.<br />

A minimum score of 45 on each of the five parts is also acceptable.<br />

5. Admission: International Students<br />

A maximum of thirty percent (30%) of the total student body of the <strong>University</strong> may be<br />

composed of out‐of‐state students and international students who are not residents of<br />

Maryland. However, the <strong>University</strong> expects to meet its obligations to qualified resident students<br />
