Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society<br />

The Gamma Kappa Chapter of Delta Mu Delta National Honor Society in Business Administration was<br />

established at <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> in December 1977. This Society promotes higher scholarship in<br />

training for business and recognizes and rewards scholastic attainment in business subjects. To be<br />

eligible for membership in the Society, a student must be a business major, must have completed at<br />

least one‐half of the work required for a baccalaureate degree, and must have achieved a cumulative<br />

grade point average of 3.2 or higher.<br />

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.<br />

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was established January 20, 1913, at Howard <strong>University</strong>. The Zeta Delta<br />

chapter was formed at <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> on April 16, 1968. The Sorority emphasizes scholarship,<br />

fellowship, and public service.<br />

Education Club<br />

The Education Club offers students interested in education as a major or minor, the opportunity to<br />

establish relationships with other students in the field. This club actively sponsors programs that focus<br />

on a variety of contemporary issues in education.<br />

Figures of Speech (English Club)<br />

Figures of Speech is composed of English majors and minors and students of other majors who are<br />

interested in promoting a better understanding and appreciation of notable literary figures and their<br />

works. The English Club occasionally sponsors poetry slams and academically supports its members.<br />

Entrepreneurship Club<br />

This Club provides students with opportunities for networking and meeting other students and business<br />

faculty. Lectures, tours, and other career oriented activities are promoted and supported.<br />

Eyes Wide Shut<br />

Eyes Wide Shut's goal is to provide an environment in which African American gay, lesbian, bisexual,<br />

transgender, queer, questioning, and straight supportive students can freely assemble in order to<br />

provide mutual support and to address the campus and community on pertinent issues. The<br />

organization strives to develop educational programs in order to work towards the elimination of<br />

oppressive myths, misconceptions, and stereotypes.<br />

Freshman Class<br />

This organization serves as the official voice of the Freshman Class.<br />

Finance & Economics Club<br />

The mission of the Finance and Economics Club is to engage the business students at <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong><br />

<strong>University</strong> in a process of career building through networking with other business organizations,<br />

institutions, and community groups. The club started in 2005 and has been one of the most active clubs<br />

on campus.<br />

Groove Phi Groove Social Fellowship, Inc.<br />

The purpose of Groove Phi Groove is to promote academic awareness, promote unity and fellowship<br />

amongst college and graduate level men, and create intelligent and effective leadership in order to<br />

improve the stature of <strong>Bowie</strong> <strong>State</strong> <strong>University</strong> students.<br />
