All gas MUST be released from line before starting repairs.<br />
Installation, usage and maintenance of this product must be in<br />
compliance with all Engineered Controls International, Inc. instructions<br />
as well as requirements and provisions of NFPA #54, NFPA<br />
#58, DOT, ANSI, all applicable federal, state, provincial and local<br />
standards, codes, regulations and laws.<br />
Inspection and maintenance on a periodic basis is essential.<br />
Be sure all instructions are read and understood before installation,<br />
operation and maintenance. These instructions must be<br />
passed along to the end user of the product.<br />
CAUTION: Contact or inhalation of liquid propane, ammonia and<br />
their vapors can cause serious injury or death! NH 3<br />
and LP-Gas<br />
must be released outdoors in air currents that will insure dispersion<br />
to prevent exposure to people and livestock. LP-Gas must be kept<br />
far enough from any open flame or other source of ignition to<br />
prevent fire or explosion! LP-Gas is heavier than air and may not<br />
disperse or evaporate rapidly if released in still air.<br />
Disassembly and <strong>Repair</strong> Procedure<br />
CAUTION: READ THROUGH ALL OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS, IN-<br />
CLUDING THE NOTICE AND WARNINGS ON THE BACK OF THIS<br />
SHEET, BEFORE BEGINNING ANY DISASSEMBLY OR REPAIR.<br />
NOTE: <strong>Repair</strong>s must be performed in a clean area. Hands, clothing,<br />
tools and work area must be completely free of oil, grease and foreign<br />
matter to prevent contamination of component parts and valves.<br />
A. Disassembly<br />
1. EVACUATE ALL GAS FROM THE SYSTEM BEFORE ANY<br />
DISASSEMBLY OR REPAIR. Open valve by lifting lever to<br />
vertical position to release any gas remaining in the system.<br />
2. Completely remove valve from line and clamp it in a vise.<br />
3. Remove roll pin and lever assembly. Save for reassembly.<br />

4. Using a 1 1 /4" wrench on hex section of bonnet assembly, turn<br />
counterclockwise. Remove from body.<br />
5. Remove stem and seat retainer by pulling assembly, out through<br />
bottom of bonnet.<br />
6. Remove seat retainer assembly from stem and discard. Save<br />
spring for reassembly.<br />
7. Remove back up ring and o-ring from stem and discard.<br />
8. Remove and discard gasket from body.<br />
CAUTION: Do not scratch or mar seat area.<br />
B. Reassembly<br />
1. Place new gasket into body.<br />
2. Place new back-up ring and new O-ring into grouve of stem.<br />
3. Place new seat retainer assembly onto stem.<br />
4. Replace spring. Replace entire stem, spring and seat retainer<br />
assembly into bonnet, through the bottom of bonnet. Be sure<br />
washer on top of bonnet is in place as shown.<br />
5. Replace lever asembly in horizontal position and secure by<br />
reinserting roll pin.<br />
6. Lift lever to vertical (open) position and thread entire bonnet<br />
assembly into body. Using a suitable 1 1 /4" wrench, tighten to<br />
1500 in/lbs torque.<br />
7. Move lever to horizontal (closed) position and replace valve in<br />
line.<br />
8. Pressurize line. Check valve for proper operation.<br />
9. Check all seal points for leaks by applying a suitable leak<br />
detection solution.<br />
