WARNING: Installation, disassembly, repair and maintenance must be performed only by qualified personnel. All gas MUST be evacuated from the system before starting repairs. Installation, usage and maintenance of this product must be in compliance with all Engineered Controls International, Inc. instructions as well as requirements and provisions of NFPA #54, NFPA #58, DOT, ANSI, all applicable federal, state, provincial and local standards, codes, regulations and laws. Inspection and maintenance on a periodic basis is essential. Be sure all instructions are read and understood before installation, operation and maintenance. These instructions must be passed along to the end user of the product. CAUTION: Contact or inhalation of liquid propane, ammonia and their vapors can cause serious injury or death! NH3 and LP-Gas must be released outdoors in air currents that will insure dispersion to prevent exposure to people and livestock. LP-Gas must be kept far enough from any open flame or other source of ignition to prevent fire or explosion! LP-Gas is heavier than air and may not disperse or evaporate rapidly if released in still air. Disassembly and Repair Procedure CAUTION: READ THROUGH ALL OF THESE INSTRUCTIONS, IN- CLUDING THE NOTICE AND WARNINGS ON THE BACK OF THIS SHEET, BEFORE BEGINNING ANY DISASSEMBLY OR REPAIR. NOTE: Repairs must be performed in a clean area. Hands, clothing, tools and work area must be completely free of oil, grease and foreign matter to prevent contamination of component parts and valves. A. Disassembly 1. Clamp the valve in a vise by the hex end section of the body. 2. Using a 1 11 /16" open end wrench with a handle of sufficient length to develop a minimum of 1250 in/lbs torque, grip the hex section of the bonnet and turn clockwise until it can be removed from body. 3. Remove body gasket and discard. A7507LC-50 Repair Kit for A7507LHB through A7507LHDM & A7508LHB through A7508LHDM Quick-Acting Hose End Valves 4. Clean cement residue from body threads with a wire brush and remove any debris that may fall into the body. 5. Put body aside for later use and clamp bonnet in the vise by its hex section. To install New Seat Disc 1. With a wrench, hold the seat disc retainer by its flats and using another wrench, turn nut counterclockwise until it can be removed, together with washer. 2. Remove and discard seat disc. 3. Install new seat disc (7507A-4) by pressing into recess of seat disc retainer. 4. Apply Loctite cement (5555LT271) to the lead threads of seat disc retainer. Caution: Loctite must not contact surface of seat disc. 5. Place washer on seat disc retainer and thread nut on clockwise until washer bottoms on retainer, tighten firmly with a wrench to form a slightly concave surface on seat disc. To Install New Multiseal: 1. Return lever to horizontal (valve closed) position. 2. Knock out groove pin with 1 /4" drift tap. 3. Remove lever. Discard bonnet washer (A7507LH-11D) and O-ring. 4. onnet and keep together. Carefully inspect stem for scoring or scratches in the stem seal area. Deep grooves or scars are cause for replacement of the stem and spring. Order part numbers A7508LHB-2 Stem and A7508LHB-2SS Spring (see note after Step 13). 5. Remove and discard multiseal, two back-up washers and washer. 6. Position bonnet in vise with threaded section up. 7. Install A7508LHB12R Multiseal onto multiseal groove as shown. Check for proper placement by inserting finger into bonnet bore. 8. Place two new back-up washers (A7508LHB-10) into multiseal groove over multiseal. Install new washer (A7508LHB-11) next. Tap washer to push multiseal into groove. B. Reassembly 1. With spring on stem assembly, insert stem into bottom of bonnet until stem is visible from top. Be careful not to cut new multiseal or back-up washers! 2. Remove bonnet and place valve body in vise. 3. Install new body gasket (7507-8). 4. Apply 5555LT271 Loctite across threads, in three places equally spaced around bonnet. 5. Thread bonnet into body counterclockwise and tighten to 1000 in/ lbs torque, using a suitable 1 11 /16" open end wrench. 6. On later model valves requiring 1567-48 O-ring, install new O-ring. On old model valves, skip this step. 7. Install new bonnet washer (A7507LH-11D). 8. Place lever assembly on stem in horizontal (valve closed) position. 9. Align holes in lever and stem. Install new groove pin (A7507LH-13). Tap in with small hammer until flush with lever 10. Rotate lever in complete circle to check freedom from binding. 11. Depress lock lever while lifting and lowering valve lever to make sure locking leg falls easily over edge of bonnet. Lock lever must not contact flat surface above hex section of bonnet. 12. If necessary, disassemble to free binding parts for proper lock lever operation. 13. Replace valve in line and pressurize while in closed (lever horizontal) position. Check for proper operation and check all seal points for leaks by applying a high quality leak detection solution. NOTE: For a faster and more convenient repair, the entire stem and bonnet assembly, supplied with groove pin, washer and body gasket, may be obtained by ordering ECII ® Part No. A7507LC-75. NOTICE LP-Gas is extremely flammable and explosive. Failure to install parts exactly as described in the instructions could result in a product that will not perform satisfactorily. Even if parts are correctly installed, the product might fail to perform satisfactorily if other parts are worn, corroded or dirty. Improper repair can cause leaks and malfunction, which could result in bodily injury and property damage. Any such use or installation of parts must ONLY be done by experienced and trained personnel using accepted governmental and industrial safety procedures. Most Engineered Controls International, Inc. products are listed with Underwriters Laboratories as manufactured. If repaired, the continued validity of the UL listing is contingent upon proper inspection to determine what needs repairing, proper repair using Engineered Controls International, Inc. parts and procedures, and proper testing for leakage and performance following repairs and installation. Engineered Controls International, Inc. assumes no responsibility or liability for performance of products repaired in the field. It must be clearly understood that the person or organization repairing the product assumes total responsibility for performance of the product. LIMITED WARRANTY AND LIMITATION OF LIABILITY Limited Warranty Engineered Controls International, Inc. warrants products and repair kits manufactured by it to be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and service for a period of 12 months from the date of installation or operation or 18 months from the date of shipment from the factory, whichever is earlier. If within thirty days after buyer's discovery of what buyer believes is a defect, buyer notifies Engineered Controls International, Inc. thereof in writing, Engineered Controls International, Inc., at its option, and within forty-five days, will repair, replace F.O.B. point of manufacture, or refund the purchase price of that part or product found by it to be defective. Failure of buyer to give such written notice within thirty days shall be deemed an absolute and unconditional waiver of any and all claims of buyer arising out of such defect.. This warranty does not extend to any product or part that is not installed and used in accordance with Engineered Controls International, Inc.'s printed instructions, all applicable state and local regulations, and all applicable national standards, such as those promulgated by NFPA, DOT and ANSI. This warranty does not extend to any product or part that has been damaged by accident, misuse, abuse or neglect, nor does it extend to any product or part which has been modified, altered, or repaired in the field. Except as expressly set forth above, and subject to the limitation of liability below, Engineered Controls International, Inc. makes NO OTHER WARRANTY, EX- PRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE IMPLIED WAR- RANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY AND FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PUR- POSE, with respect to its products and parts, whether used alone or in combination with others. Engineered Controls International, Inc. disclaims all warranties not stated herein. Limitation of Liability Engineered Controls International, Inc.'s total liability for any and all losses and damages arising out of any cause whatsoever shall in no event exceed the purchase price of the products or parts in respect of which such cause arises, whether such cause be based on theories of contract, negligence, strict liability, tort or otherwise. Engineered Controls International, Inc. shall not be liable for incidental, consequential or punitive damages or other losses. Engineered Controls International, Inc. shall not be liable for, and buyer assumes liability for, all personal injury and property damage connected with the handling, transportation, possession, further manufacture, other use or resale of products, whether used alone or in combination with any other products or material. If Engineered Controls International, Inc. furnishes technical advice to buyer, whether or not at buyer's request, with respect to application, further manufacture or other use of the products and parts, Engineered Controls International, Inc. shall not be liable for such technical advice and buyer assumes all risks of such advice and the results thereof. NOTE: Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights that vary from State to State. The portions of this limited warranty and limitation of liability shall be considered severable and all portions which are not disallowed by applicable law shall remain in full force and effect. WARNING All Engineered Controls International, Inc. products are mechanical devices that will eventually become inoperative due to wear, corrosion and aging of components made of materials such as rubber, etc. The environment and conditions of use will determine the safe service life of these products. Periodic inspection and maintenance are essential to avoid serious injury and property damage. Many Engineered Controls International, Inc. products are manufactured components which are incorporated by others on or in other products or systems used for storage, transport, transfer and otherwise for use of toxic, flammable and dangerous liquids and gases. Such substances must be handled by experienced and trained personnel only, using accepted governmental and industrial safety procedures. NOTICE TO USERS OF PRODUCTS The Limited Warranty stated above is a factory warranty to the first purchasers of Engineered Controls International, Inc. products. Since most users have purchased these products from Engineered Controls International, Inc. distributors, the user must within thirty (30) days after the user's discovery of what user believes is a defect, notify in writing the distributor from whom he purchased the product/parts. The distributor may or may not at the distributor's option, choose to submit the product/parts to Engineered Controls International, Inc., pursuant to its Limited Warranty. Failure by buyer to give such written notice within thirty (30) days shall be deemed an absolute and unconditional waiver of buyer's claim for such defects. Acceptance of any alleged defective product/parts by Engineered Controls International, Inc.'s distributor for replacement or repairs under the terms of Engineered Controls International, Inc.'s Limited Warranty in no way obligates Engineered Controls International, Inc. to the terms of the above warranty. Because of a policy of continuous product improvement, Engineered Controls International, Inc. reserves the right to change designs, materials or specifications without notice.
