their vapors can cause serious injury or death! NH3 and LP-Gas
must be released outdoors in air currents that will insure dispersion
to prevent exposure to people and livestock. LP-Gas must be kept
disperse or evaporate rapidly if released in still air!
The 7609-50 contains 20 feet of cable for connecting an emergency
shut-off valve to the downstream loading hose. Cable-to-hose
straps and a stainless steel clamp are provided to secure the cable
end to the hose.
NOTE: The thermal-element to operate the emergency valves
should be not more than 5 feet from the nearest end of the hose.
Installation
See figure below
1. Make a loop connection with end of cable to the latching arm or
valve pull lanyard using a loop sleeve contained in this kit.
Installation Instructions
2. Run cable parallel to piping up to a point where the cable can now
be angled towards the nearest end of the hose. A guide such as an
eye bolt, or a single sheave pulley will be required to change the
direction of the cable.
3. Clamp cable with a nylon-bundle-tie to the hose immediately next
to fixed piping or swivel type connection. From this point back to the
valve, the cable should be taut but not strained. To avoid accidental
tripping of the valve, this section of cable run must not be strained
by normal handling of the loading hose.
4. Continue clamping cable to hose with ties approximately every 12".
Allow a minimum of 1 /2" of cable slack between ties. The cable need
only be clamped to half the length of the hose.
5. Terminate the cable by securing it with the stainless steel hose
clamp 12" from the last nylon tie. Before the hose clamp is tightened,
slip the cable through the clamp and make a loop sleeve. Be sure
to allow 1 /2" of cable slack before tightening hose clamp.
6. With the valve latched open, move the hose to simulate the normal
movement of the hose during usage. The valve should not trip. Also,
check to see if the stainless steel hose clamp has slipped, and if so,
re-adjust and tighten. Note: The only time that the cable will trip the
valve closed is when a truck accidently pulls the hose and causes
the hose to stretch.
