WITH GAS IN THE CONTAINER BUT ONLY UNDER THE SAME
CONDITIONS REQUIRED FOR RELEASING LP-GAS (SEE
CAUTION BELOW).
If the valve is repaired with gas in the container (emergency
service):
2. Place a vapor return coupling (part number 3171) on vapor valve.
Stand aside and tighten onto 1 1 /4" Acme threads to close the
internal excess flow valve. Leave coupling in place. Continue
with steps A3-5, B1-9.
If the valve is repaired with all gas evacuated from the container:
3. Use a 1/2" hex allen wrench and turn counterclockwise to remove
upper body and save for reassembly. Hold lower body with 1 3 /8"
open end or crescent wrench.
4. Remove vapor return coupling, old (7573-9) gasket and (2797-20)
gasket from body. Discard.
5. Remove old (7556B-8) stem assembly and (7573-10A) spring
from main body. Discard.
B. Reassembly
1. Place new (7573-10A) spring over tube guide in main body.
2. Place new (7573-9) gasket into recess of main body.
3. Place new (7556B-8) stem assembly on spring. Align lower stem
to hole in tube of lower guide.
4. Align upper body into position and engage threads 1 to 2 turns.
Depress stem and seat disc assembly to assure it is in the
tube of the lower guide.
5. Continue to assemble and securely tighten upper body to main
body with 700 in/lbs torque.
6. Place new (2797-20) gasket in undercut of vapor body.
7. With pressure in the container, assemble and remove the vapor
return coupling several times to check for the proper opening and
closing of the back check valve. Do not over tighten coupling.
Use hand torque only.
8. Remove vapor return coupling. Check all joints and stem and seat
disc seal with high quality leak detection solution.
