WARNING: Installation, usage and maintenance of this product
must be in compliance with all Engineered Controls International,
Inc. instructions as well as requirements and provisions of NFPA
#54, NFPA #58, DOT and all applicable federal, state, provincial and
local standards, codes, rules, regulations and laws.
Inspection and maintenance on a periodic basis is essential. Installation
and maintenance should be performed only by qualified
personnel.
Be sure all instructions are read and understood before installation
and operation.
CAUTION: Contact or inhalation of liquid propane, ammonia and
their vapors can cause serious injury or death! NH3 and LP-Gas
must be released outdoors in air currents that will insure dispersion
to prevent exposure to people and livestock. LP-Gas must be kept
far enough from any open flame or other source of ignition to
prevent fire or explosion! LP-Gas is heavier than air and will not
disperse or evaporate rapidly if released in still air.
Application
The RegO ® A7853PA Pneumatic Actuator is designed especially for
operating RegO ® A7853A 3-Way Valves used in conjunction with
RegO ® A7883FK and A7884FK Flomatic ® Internal Valves. This
Pneumatic Actuator provides a simple and convenient means to
open and close the A7853A 3-Way Valve which controls the differential
pressure into the Flomatic. This differential pressure opens
and closes the Flomatic ® Valve.
The A7853PA is only for use on the RegO ® A7853A 3-Way Valve
when used in conjunction with RegO Flomatic ® Internal Valves. Do
not use actuator in other applications. Responsibility for proper
installation must be assumed and met by the installer.
How The Pneumatic Actuator Works
The A7853PA Pneumatic Actuator can be pressurized with an
existing pneumatic system. The actuator is designed to move the
A7853A 3-Way Valve’s lever to the “Up & Open” position when
pressure is applied and return it to the “Down & Closed” position
upon loss of pressure. The A7853PA operates with a minimum
pressure of 50 psig and a maximum operation pressure of 150 psig.
in Flomatic ® Installations
Pneumatic Actuator Installation
1. Before beginning installation of the A7853PA, verify that the
following requirements are met:
a. The LP-Gas system is shut down to prevent accidental
operation of the system and to prevent the escape of LP-Gas
during the installation.
b. Installation must only be performed by qualified personnel,
fully proficient with compressed air systems.
c. There is sufficient space at the A7853A 3-Way Valve to
accommodate the pneumatic actuator. Hoses and wires
must not be jeopardized by the operation of the actuator.
d. A flat mounting surface exists for mounting the pneumatic
actuator. This may be part of a truck frame. The back side
area of this surface must be inspected for any devices which
could be damaged from drilling during installation.
e. The A7853A 3-Way Valve must be mounted securely. System
piping alone is not sufficient to hold the valve securely
when using the actuator. There are (2) 3 /8" x 16 UNC bosses
located on the back of this valve for mounting.
2. Disconnect any devices that are attached to the lever of the
A7853A 3-way Valve.
3. If the lever of the A7853A Valve is:
a. flat with a milled slot in the middle – proceed to Step 6.
b. round without a milled slot – continue with Step 4.
CAUTION: Be sure the lever does not flip to the "Up & Open"
position during this installation.
4. Carefully remove the roll pin securing the lever to the valve stem.
Use an appropriately sized punch and hammer if needed.
