Foreword
The A3212TL Thermal Latch is designed especially for use with the
A3212A Series Internal Valves. It is designed to provide thermal
protection for the internal valve installation. Responsibility for
proper installation must be met by the installer.
How The Thermal Latch Works
When the valve’s operating lever is moved to the open position, the
latch automatically holds the lever open. If exposed to fire or
extreme heat, the built-in fusible element is designed to melt and
return the operating lever to the closed position. It is designed to
release when temperature reaches 212° F.
Thermal Latch Installation — Refer to diagram below.
1. Attach latch support to internal valve using the two socket head
cap screws, placing washers between latch support and internal
valve.
2. Insert a shoulder socket head screw through one of the two
holes located on end of latch support and secure with hex nut.
(Try the hole on the end of the bracket first to achieve maximum
opening of the valve.)
3. Attach latch to lever with a shoulder socket head screw taking
care to orient latch as shown in diagram. Place spacer in
between latch and lever, aligning holes. Place shoulder socket
head screw through holes as shown and tighten securely.
4. Insert Adjusting Screw into latch as shown and thread in about
1
/3 of its length.
5. To engage latch: Rotate latch and lever assembly until notch
in latch connects on shoulder socket head cap screw of latch
support.
6. Adjust the Adjusting Screw to assure maximum open position
of valve.
