Common <strong>Notations</strong> and Symbols<br />

NOTATION<br />

CCO-HR(TEMP)<br />

CCO-HR(TEMP)+<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

These notations are assigned to a vessels complying with <strong>the</strong> requirements specified in <strong>the</strong> <strong>ABS</strong> Guide<br />

for Vessels Operating in Low Temperature Environments.<br />

CCO-HR(TEMP) – This notation is assigned to a vessel designed, built and surveyed in accordance<br />

with requirements in Sections 2 through 6 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>ABS</strong> Guide for Vessels Operating in Low Temperature<br />

Environments (which addresses <strong>the</strong> requirements for materials, welds and coatings, hull construction<br />

and equipment, vessel systems and machinery, safety systems and additional requirements for specific<br />

vessel types intended to operate in a low temperature environment). The emergency service hours<br />

(18 or 36) is listed as HR. The design service temperature for which <strong>the</strong> vessel is designed is listed in<br />

<strong>the</strong> paren<strong>the</strong>ses.<br />

CCO-HR(TEMP)+ – This notation is assigned to a vessel designed, built and surveyed in accordance<br />

with requirements for CCO-HR(TEMP) along with placement <strong>of</strong> additional equipment onboard for <strong>the</strong><br />

crew and specific low temperature environment training for <strong>the</strong> crew as per Sections 8 and 9 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>ABS</strong> Guide for Vessels Operating in Low Temperature Environments. The emergency service hours<br />

(18 or 36) is listed as HR. The design service temperature for which <strong>the</strong> vessel is designed is listed in<br />

<strong>the</strong> paren<strong>the</strong>ses.<br />
