Common <strong>Notations</strong> and Symbols<br />

NOTATION<br />

HM1<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

A <strong>Class</strong>ification notation indicating that a vessel is fitted with a hull condition monitoring system for<br />

<strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> motion monitoring and that <strong>the</strong> system is in accordance with <strong>the</strong> applicable<br />

requirements <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>ABS</strong> Guide for Hull Condition Monitoring Systems. Slam Warning, Green<br />

Seas Warning or Ship Motion to identify <strong>the</strong> motion monitoring system provided will follow this<br />

notation. An additional notation, +R, will be added to <strong>the</strong> HM1 notation where provisions for<br />

recording data for later evaluation are provided.<br />
