DESCRIPTION<br />
A Bulk Carrier is a vessel that is constructed generally with single deck, topside tanks and hopper<br />
side tanks in cargo spaces, and is intended primarily to carry dry cargo in bulk. It includes vessels <strong>of</strong><br />
such type as Ore Carriers or combination carriers such as Ore or Oil Carriers and Oil or Bulk/Ore<br />
(OBO) Carriers. The <strong>ABS</strong> vessel type notation Bulk Carrier forms part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> class designation<br />
assigned to a vessel built in accordance with <strong>the</strong> requirements <strong>of</strong> Part 5C, Chapters 3 or 4 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>ABS</strong><br />
Rules for Building and <strong>Class</strong>ing Steel Vessels.<br />
