Oil Carrier<br />

DESCRIPTION<br />

This notation is assigned to a vessel that is designed and constructed primarily for <strong>the</strong> transportation<br />

<strong>of</strong> petroleum products (crude oil) in bulk, having flash points at or below 60°C (140°F), closed cup<br />

test, and includes vessels <strong>of</strong> similar types such as combination carriers (Ore/Oil Carriers, etc.). The<br />

<strong>ABS</strong> vessel type notation Oil Carrier forms part <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> classification designation assigned to vessels<br />

built in accordance with <strong>the</strong> requirements <strong>of</strong> Part 5C, Chapter1 or 2 <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>ABS</strong> Rules for Building and<br />

<strong>Class</strong>ing Steel Vessels.<br />
