resettled not in their own State, such as Palestine, but rather in a “<strong>Jewish</strong> Reserve.” 140<br />

Hitler remarked that he expected and hoped that the Western democracies that<br />

held “such deep sympathy for these criminals will at least be generous enough to convert<br />

this sympathy into practical aid” and <strong>of</strong>fered to place “all these criminals at the disposal<br />

<strong>of</strong> other countries…even on luxury ships.” 141 He criticized the West for its <strong>com</strong>plaint <strong>of</strong><br />

the “boundless cruelty” <strong>of</strong> German anti-<strong>Jewish</strong> policies and noted their failure to <strong>of</strong>fer<br />

“helpful activity…[O]n the contrary, these countries with icy coldness assured us that<br />

obviously there was no place for Jews in their territory…So no help is given, but morality<br />

is saved.” 142 Das Schwarze Korps, the <strong>of</strong>ficial organ <strong>of</strong> the S.S., noted that the Reich a<br />

<strong>of</strong>fered to the world a “well assorted stock <strong>of</strong> <strong>Jewish</strong> lawyers, well-preserved and well<br />

rested women doctors, specialists for skin and social disease” and a “considerable rebate”<br />

for <strong>Jewish</strong> business owners, wholesalers and salesmen. 143<br />

<strong>The</strong> S. D. analyzed the events and ac<strong>com</strong>plishments <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Evian</strong> <strong>Conference</strong>.<br />

<strong>The</strong> text <strong>of</strong> the final resolution establishing the London based <strong>com</strong>mittee demonstrated<br />

that a “practical and concrete” solution to the <strong>Jewish</strong> Question was “not possible” at that<br />

time. <strong>The</strong> statements and qualifications <strong>of</strong>fered by the various delegates confirmed that<br />
