The College of LifeLong Learning fulfills the educational needs of the adult learner who wishes: • To earn an associate or baccalaureate degree • To obtain teacher certification • To fulfill a certificate program in a special area • To update skills and knowledge • To enrich his or her personal life. Three methods of course delivery differentiate the programs offered: • Traditional, semester-long courses • In classroom, accelerated degree completion programs • Fully online accelerated degree completion programs. Most curricula for the traditional semester programs are the same as those in the College of Undergraduate Studies. CLL students who attend traditional day or evening classes on a part- or full-time basis are called CE students (CE for Continuing Education). Selection and completion of a CE degree or certificate program are the result of a CE student’s professional and personal goals. Students in an accelerated degree completion program, whether in-class or online, choose a major, enroll in a predetermined set of courses with specific begin and end times and complete degree requirements in an accelerated time frame. Students in these programs are classified as ACCEL ® or Online students. REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION The College of LifeLong Learning is open to any student who: • is a graduate of an accredited high school or has achieved the equivalent status through GED certification • has the potential to meet the educational standards of the university • is a graduate of a National League of Nursing accredited diploma school or holds an associate degree in nursing and is a registered nurse, if applying for the B.S.N. Admission Process for Degree, Certificate and Certification Programs Applications to the College of LifeLong Learning include: 1. Completed and signed application form 2. Official transcript from an accredited high school or the GED 3. Official transcripts of previously attended colleges 4. If graduated from high school within the past three years, applicant must submit scores on the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or on the American College Test (ACT). In addition, students whose primary language is not English must submit results of the TOEFEL or APIEL. This requirement is waived if applicants have documentation that they graduated from an English language academic institution. Students who attended foreign schools must have their transcripts evaluated by World Education Services (WES), or the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools. Consideration and review will be given to transcripts reviewed by member agencies of the National Association of Credential Evalution Services (NACES) as long as they are course by course. More information is available in the Office of the College of LifeLong Learning. Additional Requirements - ACCEL ® Associate of Science 1. A $50 application fee. 2. A resume outlining a minimum of four years of work experience since high school. An interview with a CLL counselor will include assessment of the applicant’s educational and professional background. Additional Requirements - ACCEL ® Bachelor of Arts Degree Completion Programs 1. A $ 50 application fee. 2. A resume outlining a minimum of four years of work experience since high school. 3. Official transcripts documenting approximately two years of undergraduate studies. Additional Requirements – Online Degree Completion Programs 1. A $50 application fee. 2. A resume outlining a minimum of four years of work experience since high school. 3. Official transcripts documenting approximately two years of undergraduate study (three credits must be in English Composition). Additional Requirements – ACCEL ® RN to BSN Program 1. A $50 application fee. 2. A copy of current RN licensure, verification of a physical examination, and current CPR certification. 3. Official transcripts indicating graduation from an NLNAC accredited diploma school or college of nursing. Additional Requirements – Education Certification (Post-Baccalaureate) Immaculata’s post-baccalaureate teacher certification programs are designed for individuals who have earned a bachelor’s degree and wish to enter the field of education. Students pursuing certification in secondary education should hold a bachelor’s degree related to the content area of choice. Applicants for an Education Certification program should: 1. Submit official transcripts indicating graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a baccalaureate degree 2. Possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 3. Meet with an advisor from the education department. Additional Requirements - School Nurse Certification (Post-Baccalaureate) Immaculata’s School Nurse Certification program is designed for students who hold a bachelor’s degree in nursing and who seek to practice holistic health care in a school setting. Applicants for the School Nurse Certification program must: 1. Submit official transcripts indicating attainment of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from a NLNAC or CCNE approved program and a copy of RN license 2. Possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.0. Admission/Registration Policy for Non-Degree Seeking/Enrichment Students Most courses offered by Immaculata University can be taken for personal enrichment. Individuals who are not pursuing a certificate, certification or a degree may enroll in courses for which they have the prerequisites by: 1. Completing a registration form 2. Submitting tuition payment. Admission/Registration Policy for Non-Credit Workshops Immaculata University offers a variety of non-credit workshops that may be taken to enhance skills or for personal enjoyment. Interested individuals must: 1. Complete a registration form 2. Submit workshop tuition payment. 16
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS Adult international students seeking admission to the College of LifeLong Learning should follow the admission requirements as outlined above, but then arrange for a meeting with the CLL counselor for international students for more specific directions. International students pay a one-time fee of $125 for services specific to their application. CLASSIFICATION Students in the College of LifeLong Learning are classified as: 1. Matriculated students enrolled in a degree or certificate program 2. Non-matriculated students enrolled in credit courses for: • enrichment • transfer to another institution Credits earned by non-matriculated students can be applied to a degree once a student matriculates. 3. Non-matriculated students enrolled for audit in non-credit workshops, or for precollege work such as Chemistry 021 3. Post-baccalaureate students enrolled in: • education, school nurse, or music therapy certification • post-baccalaureate program in science and allied health • verification in dietetics. 17
