Study of the consumer’s rights and responsibilities in the<br />
marketplace. Emphasis on legislation and purchasing procedures<br />
for foods, clothing, housing, health care, transportation and all types<br />
of insurance, banking services, and use of credit.<br />
FCS 219 Personal and Family Resource Management (3)<br />
Management of resources to meet the goals of individuals and<br />
families across the life span. Emphasis on personal development,<br />
communication skills, decision making, problem solving, risk<br />
management, maintaining a balance with work and family as well<br />
as management of time, energy, stress, and finances.<br />
FCS 323 History and Philosophy of Family and Consumer<br />
Sciences Education (3)<br />
Exploration of the history and philosophy of the Family and<br />
Consumer Sciences profession and its impact on Family and<br />
Consumer Sciences education today with emphasis on the state and<br />
national standards.<br />
FCS 324 Family and Consumer Sciences Education (3)<br />
Fundamental concepts necessary to teach Family and Consumer<br />
Sciences in grades K–12 from a family perspective. Curriculum and<br />
materials developed in this course will reflect a process-oriented<br />
approach to problems of the family. (Prerequisite: FCS 323)<br />
