8. E-MAIL BY PC<br />

8.3.6 Automatically converting attachments<br />

Using the default setting, mail (MIME encoded) sent from a PC in a network is<br />

encoded with UUENCODE. For Inmarsat C use UUENCODE.<br />

If the intended receiver does not use UUENCODE, an attachment may be<br />

unreadable. In this case, change the encode format to BINARY and re-send then<br />

message. In the BINARY setting the attachment file name is not sent to the<br />

receiver. To switch to BINARY follow the procedure below.<br />

Note: Some LES do not use the BINARY format. Contact your LES for details.<br />

Procedure<br />

1. Press [F8] and [2] to display the System Setup menu.<br />

2. Press the [↓] or [↑] key to choose Network Setup and then press the [Enter]<br />

key.<br />

3. Press the [↓] key to choose Mail Gateway and then press the [Enter] key.<br />

4. Press the [↓] key to choose Attach and then press the [Enter] key.<br />

5. Press the [↑] or [↓] key to choose the encoding format for attachments:<br />

UUENCODE, or BINARY. For Inmarsat C use UUENCODE.<br />

6. Press the [Enter] key.<br />

7. Press the [Esc] key to show Update window.<br />

8. Yes is selected; press the [Enter] key to update settings.<br />

9. Press the [Esc] key three times to return to the standby display.<br />
