GALLATIN SCHOOL OF INDIVIDUALIZED STUDYRepeating a CourseStudents seeking to improve their grade point average may repeat a course. Both courses andgrades will be recorded on the transcript, but only the latter <strong>of</strong> the two grades will be computedin the grade point average.A student who has earned credit for a course may repeatit once but will not receive additional credit. Students should be aware that certain graduateschools will count both grades in the average.II. STUDENT RECORDSThe Office <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> Registrar maintains all <strong>New</strong><strong>York</strong> <strong>University</strong> students’ <strong>of</strong>ficialeducational records.The <strong>Gallatin</strong> <strong>School</strong> maintains student files that are used by <strong>School</strong> personnelto review a student’s progress. <strong>Gallatin</strong> <strong>School</strong> files are available to the student’s adviser.Both the <strong>of</strong>ficial educational record and the <strong>Gallatin</strong> files are protected by the FamilyEducational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).TranscriptsOfficial copies <strong>of</strong> a student’s <strong>University</strong> transcript can be requested when a stamped andsealed copy <strong>of</strong> his or her academic record is required.Students with a valid NetId who attended NYU after 1990 can request an <strong>of</strong>ficial transcripton Albert.The OfficialTranscript form can be found under the My Academics section<strong>of</strong> the Student Center.Current students are also able to access their grades and view their un<strong>of</strong>ficialtranscripts on Albert.Students who attended NYU prior to 1990 can use the Secure OnlineTranscript RequestForm on the registrar’s Web site. Once you log in to the request form with your NetId andpassword, it will authenticate you as a student; a signed consent form is not required.Transcriptsmay also be requested in person at the Registrar’s Office.More information about <strong>of</strong>ficialtranscripts is available on the Registrar’s Web site at www.nyu.edu/registrar.Enrollment and Graduation VerificationYou can view/print your own enrollment certification directly fromAlbert using the integratedNational Student Clearinghouse student portal.This feature can be accessed from the“StudentCenter”link on theAlbert homepage.Eligible students are also able to view/print a Good StudentDiscount Certificate, which can be mailed to an auto insurer or any other company thatrequests pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> your status as a good student (based on your cumulative GPA).Verification <strong>of</strong> enrollment or graduation may also be requested by submitting a signedletter with the following information: <strong>University</strong> ID number, current name and any nameunder which you attended NYU, current address, date <strong>of</strong> birth, school <strong>of</strong> the <strong>University</strong> attended,dates attended, date <strong>of</strong> graduation and the full name and address <strong>of</strong> the person orinstitution to which the verification is to be sent.
