Each student must request that his or her scoreon this examination be sent to the Office <strong>of</strong> Graduate Admissions, <strong>Gallatin</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Individualized</strong>Study, <strong>New</strong><strong>York</strong> <strong>University</strong>, code 2569.Advanced Standing Transfer Applicants<strong>Gallatin</strong> welcomes applicants who have done some work in another graduate program, eitherwithin NYU or at another institution.A maximum <strong>of</strong> 12 units (combined with courseequivalency credit) may transfer. Courses must have been taken at the graduate level and beequivalent to those <strong>of</strong>fered by the graduate divisions <strong>of</strong> <strong>New</strong> <strong>York</strong> <strong>University</strong>, consistentwith the student’s program <strong>of</strong> study in the <strong>Gallatin</strong> <strong>School</strong>, completed with a grade <strong>of</strong> B orbetter, not applied to another degree and earned in the classroom at an institution <strong>of</strong> establishedacademic reputation.<strong>University</strong> policy dictates that units over 10 years old are not transferable. Students withadvanced standing who wish to transfer credit toward their degree in the <strong>Gallatin</strong> <strong>School</strong>must complete the Request for Transfer Credit form, which can be found on the <strong>Gallatin</strong>Web site, within the first year <strong>of</strong> matriculation.Graduate Course CreditFor graduates <strong>of</strong> <strong>Gallatin</strong>’s B.A. program, 6 units earned in graduate-level courses may be appliedtoward the <strong>Gallatin</strong> <strong>School</strong> M.A. program as transfer credit, providing that the unitsearned are in excess <strong>of</strong> those used to meet the requirements for the undergraduate degree.Students must request that their course work be reserved for graduate credit at the timethey register for their courses as a <strong>Gallatin</strong> undergraduate.The transfer <strong>of</strong> credit is not automatic,and all courses must adhere to the transfer credit policies <strong>of</strong> the M.A. program (seeabove). Graduate students will receive credit only for graduate-level courses.
