His second book, Harmonious Triads:Physicists, Musicians and Instrument Markers in Nineteenth-Century Germany (MIT Press),was releasedin 2006 with the paperback edition appearing in 2008. Pr<strong>of</strong>essor Jackson received theFrancis Bacon Prize for Contributions to the History <strong>of</strong> Science and Technology fromCaltech, where he served as the Francis BaconVisiting Pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> History during the winterand spring terms <strong>of</strong> 2012. He has won teaching awards from Harvard and the <strong>University</strong><strong>of</strong> Pennsylvania. He won the Zumtobel Group Award for Sustainabilityand Humanity, History Channel and Infiniti Award for City <strong>of</strong> the Future, and TimeMagazine Best Invention <strong>of</strong> 2007 with MIT Smart Cities. His project, FabTree Hab, has beenexhibited at MoMA and widely published. He was chosen by Wired magazine for“The SmartList:15 People the Next President Should ListenTo.”Rolling Stone magazine honored Mitchellin “The 100 People Who Are Changing America.” Popular Science magazine has featured hiswork as a visionary for“The Future <strong>of</strong> the Environment.”Mitchell was theWinner <strong>of</strong> theVictorPapanek Social Design Award sponsored by the <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> Applied Arts Vienna, theAustrian Cultural Forum, and the Museum <strong>of</strong> Arts and Design.
