Chapter 3 Features and FunctionsSystem-Related OperationsSystem-Related OperationsThis section gives information on topics such as power-down recall,self-test, error conditions, and front-panel display control. Thisinformation is not directly related to waveform generation but is animportant part of operating the function generator.Power-Down Recall ModeWhen power is turned off, the function generator automatically storesits state in memory location “0”. You can configure the functiongenerator to automatically recall the power-down state when power isrestored. The recall mode is disabled when the function generator isshipped from the factory.3The power-down recall mode can be set from the front-panel only.œ When the recall mode is disabled (factory setting), the functiongenerator powers up in its default configuration (see page 123).When the recall mode is enabled, the function generator powers upin the power-down configuration.œ The power-down recall setting is stored in non-volatile memory, and does not change when power has been off or after a remoteinterface reset.œ The power-down recall mode “remembers” the function (includingarbitrary waveforms), frequency, amplitude, dc offset, duty cycle,as well as any modulation parameters.œ Any arbitrary waveforms downloaded to “VOLATILE” memory are notremembered. However, if an arbitrary waveform is being outputfrom non-volatile memory when the state is stored, the waveformdata is stored. The stored waveform is output when the instrumentstate is recalled.œ Front-Panel Operation:2: POWER ON (SYS MENU)To enable the recall mode, select the “LAST STATE” choice. To disable the recall mode, select the “DEFAULT” choice.109
