Chapter 3 Features and FunctionsBurst ModulationBurst RateThe burst rate defines the frequency at which internally triggered burstsare generated. The burst rate frequency defines the interval betweenbursts. Used only in the internal triggered burst mode.Keep in mind that the burst rate is different than the “carrier frequency”which specifies the frequency of the bursted signal.œ Burst rate: 10 mHz to 50 kHz. The default is 100 Hz.œ The burst rate setting is used only when internal triggering isenabled (triggered mode). The burst rate is ignored when singletriggering or external triggering is enabled.œ When the single or external trigger source is selected (triggered mode),the burst count and burst phase remain in effect but the burst rateis ignored.œ When the external gate burst source is selected (“gated” burst mode),the burst count, burst rate, burst phase, and burst trigger source areignored (these parameters are used for the triggered burst mode only).œ It is possible to specify a burst rate which is too fast for the functiongenerator to output with the specified carrier frequency and burstcount. If the burst rate is too high, the function generator willinternally adjust it as needed to continuously re-trigger the burst. The adjustment is handled internally by the function generator(the burst rate displayed or queried will be the same as specified).œ Front-Panel Operation:5: BURST RATE (MOD MENU)œ Remote Interface Operation:BM:INTernal:RATE {|MINimum|MAXimum}88
