Chapter 3 Features and FunctionsOutput ConfigurationOutput Amplitude(continued)œ Output Amplitude and Output Termination: The output amplitude isautomatically adjusted (and no error is generated) if you change theoutput termination. For example, if you set the amplitude to 10 Vppand then change the termination from 50 ohms to “high impedance”,the displayed amplitude will double to 20 Vpp. If you change from“high impedance” to 50 ohms, the displayed amplitude will drop inhalf. See “Output Termination” on page 65 for more information.œ Offset Voltage Restrictions: The output amplitude (in Vpp) and thedc offset voltage must obey the following restrictions. If the specifiedamplitude is not valid, the function generator will automaticallyadjust it to the maximum value allowed with the present offsetvoltage. (Vmax is either 10 volts for a high impedance terminationor 5 volts for a 50 ohm termination; Vpp is the output amplitude involts peak-to-peak.)Ô Voffset Ô +Vpp2 ˆ Vmax and Ô Voffset Ô ˆ 2 x VppFrom the front panel, “MAX VALUE” is displayed and the amplitudeis adjusted. From the remote interface, a -221, “Settings conflict” erroris generated and the amplitude is adjusted.œ A momentary glitch occurs in the output waveform at certainvoltages due to output attenuator switching. This positive-goingglitch occurs when the output voltage crosses the break-point voltageeither from a lower voltage or a higher voltage. The voltages areshown below (for a 0 volt dc offset):252 mVpp, 399 mVpp, 502 mVpp, 796 mVpp, 1 Vpp, 1.59 Vpp,2.0 Vpp, 3.17 Vpp, 3.99 Vpp, 6.32 Vpp, 7.96 Vppœ The output voltage will momentarily drop to 0 volts at certain voltagesdue to output relay switching. This occurs when the output voltagecrosses the break-point voltage either from a lower voltage or ahigher voltage. The voltages are shown below (for a 0 volt dc offset):317 mVpp, 632 mVpp, 1.26 Vpp, 2.52 Vpp, 5.02 Vpp60
