Chapter 3 Features and FunctionsAmplitude Modulation (AM)Amplitude Modulation (AM)A modulated waveform consists of a carrier waveform and a modulatingwaveform. In AM, the amplitude of the carrier is varied by the amplitudeof the modulating waveform. The function generator will accept aninternal modulating signal, an external modulating signal, or both. For more information on the fundamentals of Amplitude Modulation, refer to chapter 7, “Tutorial”.To Select AM Modulationœ The AM annunciator turns on when AM is enabled.œ Only one modulation mode can be enabled at a time. When youenable AM, the previous modulation mode is turned off.3œ Front-Panel Operation: Enable AM before setting up the othermodulation parameters. Press Shift AM to output an AM waveformusing the present settings for the carrier frequency, modulatingfrequency, output amplitude, and offset voltage.œ Remote Interface Operation: To ensure proper operation, you shouldenable AM after you have set up the other modulation parameters.AM:STATe {OFF|ON}71
