Chapter 5 Error MessagesExecution Errors-221 Settings conflict; amplitude has been adjustedThe requested output amplitude is not valid. The output amplitude isautomatically adjusted to be compatible with the present configuration. This error will be generated in the following instances:œ The output amplitude is automatically adjusted if you select afunction whose maximum amplitude is less than that of the currentlyactive function. This conflict may arise when the output units areVrms or dBm due to the differences in crest factor.œ If the specified amplitude is not valid, the function generator willautomatically adjust it to the maximum value allowed with the presentoffset voltage. The output amplitude (in Vpp) and the dc offset voltagemust obey the following restrictions. (Vmax is either 10 volts for ahigh impedance termination or 5 volts for a 50 ohm termination.)Ô Voffset Ô +Vpp2 ˆ Vmax and Ô Voffset Ô ˆ 2 x Vpp-221 Settings conflict; cannot adjust phase in present configurationOption 001 Phase-Lock Only. The phase cannot be adjusted real-time ifan arbitrary waveform is selected, a modulation mode (other that burst)is enabled, or if burst is enabled with a burst count other than infinity.-221 Settings conflict; duty cycle has been adjustedThe requested duty cycle is not valid. For output frequencies above 5 MHz,the duty cycle is limited to values between 40% and 60% (below 5 MHz,the range is 20% to 80%). The duty cycle is automatically adjusted if youselect a frequency that is not valid with the present duty cycle percentage. For example, if you set the duty cycle to 70% and then change thefrequency to 8 MHz, the function generator will automatically adjust theduty cycle to 60% (the upper limit for this frequency).-221 Settings conflict; fm deviation has been adjustedThe requested FM peak frequency deviation is not valid. The sum of thecarrier frequency and peak frequency deviation must be less than orequal to the maximum frequency for the selected function plus 100 kHz(15.1 MHz for sine and square, 200 kHz for triangle and ramp, and5.1 MHz for arbitrary waveforms). If you attempt to set the deviation toa value that is not valid, the function generator will automaticallyadjust the deviation to the maximum value allowed with the presentcarrier frequency.232
