Category Compliance
External conditions The external conditions of IEC 61400-2 include

wind and environmental conditions. These are
used to establish structural load cases and they
further form the basis for aerodynamic perform-
ance calculations.
Structural design The structural design loads are based on simplified
IEC load models and safety factors. The structural
integrity of key components is verified.
Protection and shutdown system The design complies with the protection system
requirements of the IEC standard if it is used with
an electrical system with the same properties as
those described in section 7.2.
Testing No tests are performed due to the lack of a proto-
type.
Electrical system Design of the electrical system is beyond the scope
of this project and its compliance with the IEC
standard is therefore not treated. The general
guidelines of section 7.2 however provide a good
starting point.
Support structure The wind turbine tower is treated to some extent,
but further validation is needed. The foundation is
not treated.
Documentation IEC requires product manuals to be provided.
While manuals are not produce, much of the infor-
mation of this project thesis may be used to pro-
duce manuals containing clear description of
assembly, installation and operation of the wind
turbine.

table 5.1, except for full details of the electrical
system.
