A set of 10 templates is made to facilitate
carving of the airfoil shape. They are
made from 1 mm sheet metal plates. Each
template is split at the trailing and lead-
ing edge of the blade. The shape of the
airfoil differs in every section along the
blade. The airfoil shape data needed to
create the templates for the sections is
described in appendix D.
The airfoil is carved according to the
templates. One template for each mark-
ing. The shape of the airfoil must pre-
cisely follow the template and the split-
line on the template must follow the
previously marked leading and trailing
edges on the blade.
When the airfoil-shape is carved, all that
is left is to chamfer the hub junction and
to carve the radius of the transition be-
tween the airfoil and the hub junction.
