You will haveenough time to play and discuss four to six spots in one group discussion. However,in individual interviews, try not to play more than two spots per interview. If youhave more than two spots to review in individual interviews, you will have toincrease the number of interviewees and use different combination of two spots—inboth first and second order to make sure all spots are compared with each other.Organizing pretest groupsPlanning and organization are key to conducting effective pretesting and creating anenvironment where both the moderator and the participants feel comfortable. Beforepretesting, the spots must be recorded and duplicated, the moderator’s guidefinalized and researchers recruited and trained. The moderator’s guide and screeningquestionnaire both should be pretested during the training, before they are copiedand the spot pretesting work begins. You also need to determine the total number ofgroups that will be conducted. It is recommended that you conduct multiple groupswith similar types of participants so that you can detect patterns and trends acrossgroups. In addition, assigning responsibility for the following list of logistics andequipment in advance will contribute to the success of your research.Spot On Malaria: Guide61
