<strong>Configuration</strong> TasksDistributed Multilink Frame Relay (FRF.16)Configuring a Multilink Frame Relay BundleTo configure the bundle interface for Distributed Multilink Frame Relay, use the following commandsbeginning in global configuration mode:CommandPurposeStep 1 Router(config)# interface mfr number Configures a multilink Frame Relay bundleinterface.Step 2 Router(config-if)# frame-relay multilink bid name (Optional) Assigns a bundle identification name toa multilink Frame Relay bundle.NoteThe bundle identification (BID) will notgo into effect until the interface has gonefrom the down state to the up state. Oneway to bring the interface down and backup again is by using the shut and no shutcommands in interface configurationmode.Configuring a Multilink Frame Relay Bundle LinkTo configure a bundle link interface for multilink Frame Relay, use the following commands beginningin global configuration mode:CommandPurposeStep 1 Router(config)# interface serial number Selects a physical interface and enters interfaceconfiguration mode.Step 2Router(config-if)# encapsulation frame-relay mfr number[name]Creates a multilink Frame Relay bundle link andassociates the link with a bundle.Tip To minimize latency that results from thearrival order of packets, we recommendbundling physical links of the same linespeed in one bundle.Step 3 Router(config-if)# frame-relay multilink lid name (Optional) Assigns a bundle link identificationname to a multilink Frame Relay bundle link.Note The bundle link identification (LID) willnot go into effect until the interface hasgone from the down state to the up state.One way to bring the interface down andback up again is by using the shut and noshut commands in interface configurationmode.Step 4 Router(config-if)# frame-relay multilink hello seconds (Optional) Configures the interval at which abundle link will send out hello messages. Thedefault value is 10 seconds.6
