Configuring X.25 and LAPBConfiguring Additional X.25 Datagram Transport FeaturesCommandPurposeStep 1 Router(config-if)# x25 idle minutes Sets an idle time for clearingencapsulation.Step 2Router(config-if)# x25 map protocol address [protocol2address2 [...[protocol9 address9]]] x121-address idle minutesSpecifies idle time for clearing SVCs of amap. For an example of configuring the SVC idle timer, see the section “Typical X.25 ConfigurationExample” later in this chapter. See the section “Monitoring and Maintaining LAPB and X.25,” later inthis chapter, for additional commands that clear VCs.Increasing the Number of VCs AllowedFor X.25 datagram transport, you can establish up to eight VCs to one host for each map.To increase the number of VCs allowed, use one or both of the following commands in interfaceconfiguration mode:CommandRouter(config-if)# x25 nvc countRouter(config-if)# x25 map protocol address [protocol2address2 [...[protocol9 address9]]] x121-address nvc countPurposeSpecifies the default maximum number of SVCs thatcan be open simultaneously to one host for each map.Specifies the maximum number of SVCs allowed fora map.For an example of increasing the number of VCs allowed, see the sections “Typical X.25 ConfigurationExample” and “DDN X.25 Configuration Example” later in this chapter.Configuring the Ignore Destination TimeUpon receiving a Clear for an outstanding datagram transport Call Request, the X.25 encapsulation codeimmediately tries another Call Request if it has more traffic to send. This action can overrun some X.25switches.To define the number of minutes for which the Cisco IOS software will prevent calls from going to apreviously failed destination, use the following command in interface configuration mode (incomingcalls will still be accepted and cancel the timer):CommandRouter(config-if)# x25 hold-vc-timer minutesPurposeConfigures the ignore destination time.27
