NKOMAZI EXCECUTIVE MAYOR’S FOREWORDNkomazi Municipality is amunicipality in transition. Whilststriving to implement plans andprogrammes to improve the currentand future living conditions of theNkomazi people, we aresimultaneously dealing with theremnants of the past dispensation.As a municipality we areendeavoring through the IDP andrelevant policies to provideelaborate plans according to whichwe intend to push back the frontiersof poverty and indeed to acceleratethe better life for all.We are satisfied that we havesufficiently appraised ourselves,from when we resumed office lastJune, with the challenges that we are confronted with in terms of the provision of water ,electricity ,roads ,sanitation andrelated services. We believe the plans that are outlined in this document, will enable the municipality to reduce thechallenges and improve service delivery.The expectation from the people of Nkomazi is for the municipality to outline clear and implementable plans that are gearedtowards overcoming the identified shortcomings and to change the material conditions under which our people findthemselves. The 2012-2013 IDP does indeed demonstrate such a commitment by the municipality. This document has beenstructured in manner that will ensure that our various departments work in unison to ensure that agenda envisaged in ourvision and mission does come to fruition.The multi-year planning system, coupled with the capacity that we continue to amass year-on –year, leaves us with nodoubt that the commitments that we have made in our election manifesto and the relevant resolutions of our ProvincialGrowth and Development Summit regarding the eradication of poverty and providing better living conditions for all ourpeople will become a reality._______________________________Cllr.
