We recommendkeeping the tank over 1/4 full. When thelow fuel warning light illuminates orwhen the needle is near E, refuel as soonas possible.37Low fuel warning light▼ Engine Oil Pressure GaugeEngine oil pressure is normal when theengine oil pressure gauge needle pointshalfway between L and H with the enginerunning.If the engine oil pressure gauge moves toL (low) while you are driving, drive to theside of the road and park off the right-ofway.Set the parking brake. Then followsteps 1 through 3.1. Turn off the engine and inspect theengine oil level (page 8-10). If it’s low,add oil.2. Start the engine.3. If the needle still doesn’t move, haveyour vehicle checked at an Authorized<strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer.Don’t run the engine if the oil pressureis low. It could result in extensiveengine damage.NOTECAUTIONThe <strong>Mazda</strong> <strong>RX</strong>-8 requires regularinspection of the engine oil level. Thecompact, high performance RENESISrotary engine in your vehicle consumesa small amount of engine oil due to itsstructural design.Although your vehicle is equippedwith an engine oil level warning lightand an engine oil pressure gauge, it isbest to keep the engine oil level in therange between full and low bychecking the oil dipstick regularly.Inspect the level when refueling.If the needle on the gauge doesn’t moveafter starting the engine, follow steps 1through 3.5-33Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
