J60E_8R65-EA-03C_Edition2.book Page 5 Saturday, April 26, 2003 1:48 PMKnowing Your <strong>Mazda</strong>Doors and LocksTrunk buttonTo open the trunk, press theNOTEPanic buttonbutton.The trunk button is disabled when theglove box-mounted trunk lid releaselock-out button is in the OFF position(page 3-12).You can use the button to turn on thealarm, which allows you to signal forattention in an emergency.NOTEThe alarm will work whether any dooris open or closed.Turning on the alarmPressing the button once will trigger thealarm for about 2 minutes and 30 seconds,and do the following:• The horn sounds intermittently.• The hazard warning lights flash.Turning off the alarmPress any button on the transmitter orinsert the key into the ignition switch.▼ Transmitter MaintenanceCAUTION• Make sure the battery is installedwith the correct pole facing upward.Battery leakage could occur if it isnot installed correctly.• When replacing the battery, becareful not to bend the electricalterminals or get oil on them. Alsobe careful not to get dirt in thetransmitter as it could damage it.• Danger of battery explosion if it isincorrectly replaced.• Replace only with the same typebattery (CR2025 or the equivalent).• Dispose of used batteries accordingto the following instructions.• Insulate the plus and minusterminals of the battery usingcellophane or equivalent tape.• Never disassemble.• Never throw the battery into fireand/or water.• Never deform or crush.3-5Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
