If you are usingthe proper key and your engine failsto start, check the warning light. If itis flashing, remove the ignition keyand wait 2 seconds or more, thenreinsert it and try starting the engineagain. If it doesn’t start after 3 ormore tries, contact an Authorized<strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer.• If the warning light flashescontinuously while you are driving,don’t shut off the engine. Go to anAuthorized <strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer and haveit checked. If you shut off theengine while the light is flashingyou won’t be able to restart it.▼ MaintenanceIf you have a problem with theimmobilizer system or the key, consult anAuthorized <strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer.CAUTION• To avoid damage to the key, do not:• Drop the key.• Get the key wet.• Expose the key to any kind ofmagnetic field.• Expose the key to hightemperatures on places such asthe dashboard or hood, underdirect sunlight.• When starting the engine, do not letthe following materials touch orcome near the key grip. The enginemay not start:• Spare keys.• Keys for other vehicles equippedwith an immobilizer system.• Metal objects that touch or passthrough the hole in the key.• Devices for electronic purchases,and security passage.3-22Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
