J60E_8R65-EA-03C_Edition2.book Page 3 Saturday, April 26, 2003 1:48 PMKnowing Your <strong>Mazda</strong>Doors and LocksKeyless Entry SystemThis system locks and unlocks the doorsand opens the trunk.It can also help you signal for attention inan emergency.Press the button slowly and accurately.CAUTIONTo avoid damage to the transmitter, donot:• Drop it.• Get it wet.• Disassemble it.• Expose it to heat or sunlight.NOTE• The keyless entry system isdesigned to operate up to about2.5 m (8 ft) from the center of thevehicle, but this may vary becauseof local conditions.• The system doesn’t operate whenthe key is in the ignition switch.• Doors cannot be locked by pressingthe LOCK button while any otherdoor is open. The hazard warninglights will also not flash.• If the transmitter does not operatewhen pressing a button or theoperation range becomes too small,the battery may be dead. To install anew battery, refer to Maintenance(page 3-5).• Additional transmitters can beobtained at an Authorized <strong>Mazda</strong>Dealer. Up to 3 transmitters can beused with the keyless entry systemper vehicle. Bring all transmitters toan Authorized <strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer whenthe electronic codes need to bereset.3-3Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
