With the drain plug loose but not fullyremoved, flush out the system withrunning water.LoosenDrain plugTightenCooling system capTightenLoosen4. Drain the system completely andretighten the plug. Add as muchethylene-glycol-based coolant andwater as necessary to provide freezingand corrosion protection.5. In extremely cold climates, add theamount recommended in the coolantmanufacturer’s instructions.6. Reinstall the cooling system cap.7. Run the engine at idle for about10 minutes, then turn it off. If thecoolant level warning light comes onduring this time, turn the engine off.After turning off the engine, inspectthe drain plug and the water hoses forleaks.8. After the engine has cooled, removethe cooling system cap and inspect thecoolant level. If it’s low, repeat steps 5to 7.Brake/Clutch Fluid▼ Inspecting Brake/Clutch FluidLevelThe brakes and clutch draw fluid from thesame reservoir.Inspect the fluid level in the reservoirregularly. It should be kept at MAX.The level normally drops withaccumulated distance, a conditionassociated with wear of brake and clutchlinings. If it is excessively low, have thebrake/clutch system inspected by anAuthorized <strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer.NOTEBecause this procedure requirestechnical expertise, we recommendthat it be done by an Authorized<strong>Mazda</strong> Dealer.8-14Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
