Thisbegins when the ignition switch is turnedto the ON position and continues whilethe vehicle is being driven.▼ Air Bag/Front Seat BeltPretensioner System WarningLightIf the air bag/front seat belt pretensionersystem is OK, the warning light comes onwhen the ignition switch is turned to theON position or after the engine is cranked.After about 6 seconds it goes out.A system malfunction is indicated whenthe warning light constantly flashes, stayson or doesn’t come on at all when theignition switch is turned to the ONposition. If any of these occur, consult anAuthorized Mazda Dealer as soon aspossible. The system may not work in anaccident.▼ MaintenanceWARNINGSelf-Servicing the Air Bag/Pretensioner Systems:Self-servicing or tampering with thesystems is dangerous. An air bag/pretensioner could accidentallyactivate or become disabled. Thiscould cause serious injuries. Nevertamper with the systems and alwayshave an Authorized Mazda Dealerperform all servicing and repairs.The air bag systems do not require regularmaintenance. But if any of the followingoccurs, take your vehicle to an AuthorizedMazda Dealer as soon as possible:• The air bag system warning lightflashes.• The air bag system warning light stayson.• The air bag system warning light staysoff when the ignition switch is turnedto the ON position.• The air bags inflate.2-38Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
