This gas contains CO(carbon monoxide), which iscolorless, odorless, and highlypoisonous. If inhaled, it can causeloss of consciousness and death.Because exhaust gas can get into thecabin through an open trunk, keepthe trunk closed when driving.▼ Opening and Closing the TrunkWARNINGOpen Trunk Lid and Children:Leaving the trunk lid open or leavingchildren in the vehicle with the keys isdangerous. Children could open thetrunk lid and climb inside resulting inpossible injury or death from heatexposure. Close the trunk lid and donot allow children to play inside thevehicle.WARNINGUnattended Children and Pets:Leaving children or animalsunattended in a parked vehicle isdangerous. Babies left sleeping andkids who lock themselves in cars ortrunks can die very quickly from heatprostration. Don’t leave your childrenor pets alone in a car at any time.Don’t leave the car or the trunkunlocked. Always keep the car frombeing a tempting place to play bylocking doors and the trunk, andkeeping the keys where children won’tplay with them.Opening the trunk lid with the keyInsert the master key into the slot and turnit clockwise.The valet key will not operate this lock(page 3-2).OpenOpening the trunk lid with thetransmitterThe trunk lid can be opened by operatingthe keyless entry system transmitter, referto Keyless Entry System (page 3-3).3-11Form No. 8R65-EA-03C

Be careful not slamit. Pull up on the trunk lid to make sure itis secured.With the switch in the ON position, theremote trunk lid release can be operated.▼ Trunk LightThe trunk light is on when the lid is openand off when it’s closed.Handle▼ Remote Trunk Lid Release Lock-OutAs an added security feature, the remoterelease may be canceled to preventanyone from opening the trunk withoutthe master key.NOTETo prevent the battery from beingdischarged, do not leave the trunk openfor a long period when the engine isnot running.3-12Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
