Connect the cable to a pointaway from the battery.Connecting Jumper Cable to MovingParts:Connecting a jumper cable near or tomoving parts (cooling fans, belts) isdangerous. The cable could getcaught when the engine starts andcause serious injury. Never connect ajumper cable to or near any part thatmoves.7. Start the engine of the booster vehicleand run it a few minutes. Then start theengine of the other vehicle.8. When finished, carefully disconnectthe cables in the reverse orderdescribed in Step 6.Push-StartingWARNINGTowing a Vehicle to Start It:Towing a vehicle to start it isdangerous. The vehicle being towedcould surge forward when its enginestarts, causing the two vehicles tocollide. The occupants could beinjured. Never tow a vehicle to start it.You can’t start a vehicle with an automatictransmission by pushing it.CAUTIONYou shouldn’t push-start a vehicle thathas a manual transmission.
