Don’t remove thecooling system cap when the engineand radiator are hot.CAUTIONIf the engine continues to overheat orfrequently overheats, have the coolingsystem inspected. Depress the accelerator all the way andhold it there.2. Turn the ignition switch to the STARTposition and hold it there—for up to10 seconds. If the engine starts,release the key and acceleratorimmediately because the engine willsuddenly rev up.3. If the engine fails to start, crank itwithout using the accelerator—for upto 10 seconds.Jump-StartingJump-starting is dangerous if doneincorrectly. So follow the procedurecarefully. If you feel unsure about jumpstarting,we strongly recommend that youhave a competent service technician dothe work.WARNINGBattery-Related Explosion:Flames and sparks near open batterycells are dangerous. Hydrogen gas,produced during normal batteryoperation, could ignite and cause thebattery to explode. An explodingbattery can cause serious burns andinjuries. Keep all flames, includingcigarettes, and sparks away fromopen battery cells.Low Fluid Level or Frozen Battery:Jump-starting a frozen battery or onewith a low fluid level is dangerous. Itmay rupture or explode, causingserious injury.Don’t jump-start a frozen battery orone with a low fluid level.CAUTIONUse only a 12 V booster system. Youcan damage a 12 V starter, ignitionsystem, and other electrical partsbeyond repair with a 24 V powersupply (two 12 V batteries in series ora 24 V motor generator set).7-20Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
