This couldresult in someone being badly injuredor even killed. They could play withpower windows or other controls, oreven make the vehicle move. Don’tleave the keys in your vehicle withchildren.CAUTION• To avoid damage to the key, do not:• Drop the key.• Get the key wet.• Expose the key to any kind ofmagnetic field.• Expose the key to hightemperatures on places such asthe dashboard or hood, underdirect sunlight.• When starting the engine, do not letthe following materials touch orcome near the key grip. The enginemay not start:• Spare keys.• Keys for other vehicles equippedwith an immobilizer system.• Metal objects that touch or passthrough the hole in the key.• Devices for electronic purchases,and security passage.Your Mazda has two kinds of keys.Master key(Black)Valet key(Gray)Key code number plateHere’s what the keys are used for:Lock Operates Master key Valet keyIgnition switchand steeringYesYescolumn lockDoors Yes YesGlove box Yes NoStorage box Yes NoTrunk lid Yes NoIf you must leave your vehicle withanother person, such as a parkingattendant, protect items by locking theglove box, storage box and trunk lid withthe master key. Keep that key and give theother person only the valet key.A code number is stamped on the plateattached to the key set; detach this plateand store it in a safe place (not in thevehicle) for use if you need to make areplacement key.Also write down the code number andkeep it in another safe and handy place,but not in the vehicle.If your key is lost, consult yourAuthorized Mazda Dealer with the codenumber ready.3-2Form No. 8R65-EA-03C
