AKD Installation | 8 Electrical Installation8.17.2 Setting the IP Address with Rotary SwitchesYou can use the fieldbus to select the IP address value or IP address mode for accessing the drive over theservice interface. For CANopen and some other fieldbuses, the rotary switches also set the node address ofthe drive for that specific network.Rotary Switch SettingDrive IP Address00 DHCP/AutoIP address. The IP address of the drive is obtained from the DHCPserver on your network. If no DHCP server is found the IP addresses is an AutoIPaddress (it is internally generated following the AutoIP protocol and will be of theform 169.254.xx.xx).01 Reserved.02 to 99 Static IP Address. The IP address is 192.168.0.nn, where nn is the number from therotary switch. This setting generates addresses in a range from 192.168.0.2 to192.168.0.99. Example:if S1 is set to 0 and S2 is set to 5 – the IP address is192.168.0.5The PC subnet mask must be set to 255.255.255.0 or 255.255.255.128When connecting the AKD directly to a PC it is recommended to use static IPaddressing (not 00)!Dynamic IP addressing (DHCP and Auto-IP)With S1 and S2 both set to 0, the drive is in DHCP mode. The drive will acquire its IP address from an externalDHCP server if present in the network. If a DHCP server is not present in the drive will assume an AutomaticPrivate IP Address of the form 169.254.x.x.If your PC is directly connected to the drive, and set to obtain an IP address automatically in the TCP/IP settings,a connection will be established with both devices using compatible automatic generated addresses. Itcan take up to 57 seconds for a PC to configure an Automatic Private IP Address (169.254.x.x).Changing the IP addressIf the switches are altered while 24 V Logic power is supplied to the drive, you must unplug the network cablefrom the drive for 3 seconds or more.
