AKD <strong>Installation</strong> | 9 Setup9.2.2 Software descriptionEach drive must be adapted to the requirements of your machine. For most applications, you can use a PCand WorkBench (the drive setup software) to set up the operating conditions and parameters for your drive.The PC is connected to the drive by an Ethernet cable (see page 121). The setup software provides the communicationbetween the PC and AKD. You can find the setup software on the accompanying CD-ROM and inthe download area of the Kollmorgen website.With very little effort you can alter parameters and instantly observe the effect on the drive, since there is acontinuous (online) connection to the drive. You can also read important actual values from the drive, whichare displayed on the monitor of the PC (oscilloscope functions).You can save sets of data on data media (archiving) and load them them into other drives or use them forbackup. You can also print out the data sets.Most standard feedbacks (SFD, EnDAT 2.2,2.1, and BiSS) are plug and play compatible. Motor nameplatedata is stored in the feedback device and read by the drive automatically at startup. Non-plug and play Kollmorgenmotors are stored in WorkBench and can be loaded with one-click using the Motor screen in the Work-Bench software.Anextensiveonlinehelpwithintegrateddescriptionof all variables andfunctions supports youineachsituation.9.2.3 Hardware requirementsThe Service interface (X11, RJ45) of the drive is connected to the Ethernet interface of the PC by an Ethernetcable (see page 121).Minimum requirements for the PC:Connect/disconnect the Ethernet cable only when the electrical supply isswitched off for both the PC and the drive.Processor: at least Pentium ® II or comparableOperating system : Windows 2000 or Windows XPGraphics adapter : Windows compatible, color<strong>Drives</strong> : hard disk with at least 10 MB free space, CD-ROM driveInterface : one free Ethernet Interface, or a Hub port or Switch port9.2.4 Operating systemsWINDOWS 2000/XPWorkBench works with WINDOWS 2000 and WINDOWS XPUnix, Linux, WINDOWS VISTA/7The functioning of the software has not been tested for WINDOWS VISTA or WINDOWS 7 and WINDOWSrunning within Unix or Linux.Kollmorgen | December 2009 131
