AKD Installation | 1 General1.1 About this ManualThis manual, AKD Installation Manual, describes the AKD series of digital drives and includes informationneeded to safely install an AKD. A digital version of this manual (pdf format) is available on the CD-ROMincluded with your drive. Manual updates can be downloaded from the Kollmorgen website (www.kollmorgen.com).This document fulfills all requirements for an "Instructions Manual" under the EC Machinery Directive(2006/42/EC).Additional documents on the accompanying CD-ROM include the following:• AKD Quick Start (also provided in hard copy). This guide provides instructions for basic drive setupand connection to a network.• AKD Users Manual. This manual describes how to use your drive in common applications. It also providestips for maximizing your system performance with the AKD.• AKD Parameter and Command Reference Guide. This guide provides documentation for the parametersand commands used to program the AKD.• AKD Accessories Manual. This manual includes technical data and dimensional drawings of accessoriessuch as cables, brake resistors, and mains supplies.1.2 Target GroupThis manual addresses personnel with the following qualifications:• Transport: only by personnel with knowledge of handling electrostatically sensitive components.• Unpacking: only by electrically qualified personnel.• Installation: only by electrically qualified personnel.• Basic tests: only by qualified personnel with extensive knowledge of electrical engineering and drivetechnologyThe qualified personnel must know and observe the following standards:• ISO 12100, IEC 60364 and IEC 60664• National accident prevention regulationsDuring operation, hazards exist that can cause death, severe injury, or materialdamage. To safely operate the AKD, you must follow all safety instructions inthis manual.
