AKD Installation | 6 Technical description and data6.17.7 Functional description (in process)When restart lock STO (Safe Torque Off) is not needed, then the input STO must be connected directly with+24 V. The restart lock is then bypassed and cannot be used.Incaseof useof therestart lock theinput STOmust beconnectedtotheexit of asecurity control orasafety relay, whichat least meets therequirements of Category 3accordingtoISO13849(connectiondiagram: seepage58).Possible states of the drive referring to restart lock STO:STO ENABLE Display Motor has Torque Safety Cat. 30 V 0 V in process no yes0 V +24 V in process no yes+24 V 0 V in process no no+24 V +24 V in process yes noWhen restart lock is engaged during operation by separating input STO from 24 V, the motor slows down withoutcontrol and the drive displays the fault F602.There is no possibility of braking the drive controlled when STO-Enable is off. Ifa controlled braking before the use of the restart lock is necessary, the drivemust be braked and the input STO must be separated from +24 V time-delayed.The restart lock STO does not provide an electrical separation from the poweroutput. If access to the motor power terminals is necessary, the drive must bedisconnected from mains supply considering the discharging time of the intermediatecircuit. There is a danger of electrical shock and personnel injury.Since the restart lock is a single-channel system, erroneous engaging will not be recognized. When wiring theinput STO within one enclosure it must be paid attention to the fact that the used cables and the enclosuremeet the requirements of IEC 60204-1.If you are wiring leads outside the specified enclosure, then the cables must be laid durably and protected fromoutside damage.56 Kollmorgen | December 2009
