Environment andProgressive RestorationRestorationEnvironmental Bondstoring the top soil. Some of the top soil generated wasused to level the road.Overburden generation was minimal and consisted mostlyof undersize materials.Waste material was loaded on the truck and disposed atthe pre-determined site. The disposal site was located justabove the road. A retaining wall was constructed to arrestthe waste materials.Pit slope was in-between 50 to 60 0 and bench height about10 meters from the base. The management has not carried out monitoring of air, water and noise at the mining site. The mine has been in operation for about 3 years and therewas no vegetative cover at the mining site. The management has not carried out any afforestationprogram.Approach road to the mine area is about 5 km which takesoff from 22 km of Pasakha - Manitar roads. The accessroad was pitched with side and cross drain to channel thesurface water. The drain needs further improvements. The restoration of the mine was primary focused on theconstruction of check dam.Environmental bond deposit Nu. 13,50,000.007. Others The undersize material generation was about 10% of thetotal production. Some of the undersize materialsgenerated were used on the road and rests were disposedoff as water material.Worker employed were about of 60.Safety boot was made available only to the regular staff.Channeling of mine water was not developed and therewas no electricity at the base office.1.9 RecommendationThe height of the waste disposed was kept high. The management has to reduce andmaintain as specified in the FMFS and EMP.The retaining wall constructed along the approach road which also serves as the check damfor arresting the waste has to be lengthened and also construct additional check dam justabove the retaining wall. The management has to continue to apply control blasting technique and break manuallywhich has not only helped in reduction of undersize but also noise level.35
