In addition to the requirements outl<strong>in</strong>ed <strong>in</strong> ‘General requirements forall <strong>asbestos</strong> removal’ on page 21, licensed removalists must:• ensure notification of any <strong>asbestos</strong> removal has been forwarded to<strong>WorkSafe</strong> and a copy provided to the person who commissioned the work• ensure documentation relat<strong>in</strong>g to the job is at the removal site, <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>gcopies of– tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g records of all persons perform<strong>in</strong>g removal work– the control plan– the licence• for friable <strong>asbestos</strong> removal work, ensure the site supervisor is on site forthe entire time dur<strong>in</strong>g the removal• for non-friable <strong>asbestos</strong> removal work, ensure the site supervisor is on siteor accessible for the entire time dur<strong>in</strong>g the removal (if the site supervisoris contactable by phone and able to arrive at the removal site with<strong>in</strong>20 m<strong>in</strong>utes, this would be regarded as ‘accessible’).229. Whatever the factors or circumstances, a licensed <strong>asbestos</strong> removalist mustdevelop and implement an <strong>asbestos</strong> removal control plan whenever ACM isto be removed. This control plan will assist <strong>in</strong> ensur<strong>in</strong>g the removal is carriedout <strong>in</strong> a safe manner.The control plan230. A control plan is a document which identifies the specific control measures alicence holder will use to ensure employees and other people are not at riskwhen removal work is be<strong>in</strong>g conducted. It is similar to a job safety analysis(JSA) but is focused on the specific control measures necessary to reducerisk from exposure to <strong>asbestos</strong>.231. The licensed <strong>asbestos</strong> removalist must develop a site-specific control planbefore commenc<strong>in</strong>g any <strong>asbestos</strong> removal work. When draft<strong>in</strong>g the procedure,the items listed <strong>in</strong> Appendix Q need to be considered. The removalist must alsotake <strong>in</strong>to account any <strong>asbestos</strong> register relevant to the <strong>asbestos</strong> to be removedand the area to be worked on.
