Pre-flight action for flights away from thevicinity of an aerodrome, and for all IFR flights, shall include acareful study of available current weather reports and forecasts,taking into consideration fuel requirements and an alternativecourse of action if the flight cannot be completed as planned.A6-I-4.3.6.1 A flight shall not be commenced unless, taking into account boththe meteorological conditions and any delays that are expected inflight, the aeroplane carries sufficient fuel and oil to ensure that itcan safely complete the flight. In addition, a reserve shall becarried to provide for contingencies.A6-I-4.3.6.4 In computing the fuel and oil required in 4.3.6.1 at least thefollowing shall be considered:a) meteorological conditions forecast;b) expected air traffic control routings and traffic delays;c) for IFR flight, one instrument approach at the destinationaerodrome, including a missed approach;d) the procedures prescribed in the operations manual forloss of pressurization, where applicable, or failure of onepower-unit while en route; ande) any other conditions that may delay the landing of theaeroplane or increase fuel and/or oil consumption.A6-I-5.2.5 A flight shall not be commenced unless the performanceinformation provided in the flight manual indicates that theStandards of 5.2.6 to 5.2.11 can be complied with for the flight tobe undertaken.Fuel on board less than minimumICAO requirementsA13-05Indicate the particulars ofthe situation observed<strong>SAFA</strong> Coordination Section Page 71 of 217© European Aviation Safety Agency, 2012 V 2.0
