M.P.Bhumi Vikas Niyam, <strong>1984</strong>(f) every septic tank shall be provided with ventilating pipe of at least 50millimeters diameter. The top of the pipe shall be provided with asuitable case of mosquito proof wire mesh. The ventilating pipe shallextend to a height, which would cause no smell nuisance to any buildingin the area. Generally, the ventilating pipe may extend to a height ofabout 2 Meters when the septic tank is at least 15 Meters away from thenearest building and to a height of 2 Meters above the top of the buildingwhen it is located closer than 15 Meters;(g)(h)when the disposal of septic tank effluent is to seepage pit, the seepagepit may be of any suitable shape with the least cross-section dimensionof 90 centimeters and not less than 100 centimeters in depth below theinvert level of the inlet pipe. The pit may be lined with stone, brick orconcrete blocks with dry open joints which should be backed with atleast 7.5 centimeters of clean coarse aggregate. The lining above theinlet level should be finished with mortar. In the case of pits of largedimensions, the tope portion may be narrowed to reduce the size of thereinforced cement concrete cover slabs. Where no lining is used,specially near trees, the entire pit should be filled with loose stones. Amasonary ring may be constructed at the top of the pit to preventdamage by flooding of the pit by surface run off. The inlet pipe may betaken down a depth of 90 centimeters from the top as an anti-mosquitomeasures; andwhen the disposal of septic tank effluent is to a dispersion trench, thedispersion trench shall be, 50 to 100 centimeters deep and 30 to 100centimeters wide excavated to gradient and shall be provided with 10 to25 centimeters of washed gravel or crushed stone. Open jointed placedinside the trench shall be made of unglazed earthenware pipes clay orconcretes and shall have minimum internal diameter of 75 to 100millimeters. Each dispersion trench should not be longer than 30 metersand trenches should not be placed closer than 1.8 Meters.77. Staircase.-(1) The minimum clear width and maximum riser of staircases forbuildings shall be as given in sub-rule (2) to (4).(2) Minimum Width.-The minimum width of staircase shall be as follows:-(i) Residential buildings (Dwellings) 0.85 MetersNote.- For row housing with two storeys the minimum width shall be0.75 Meters(ii) Residential hotel buildings. 1.5 Meters(iii) Assembly buildings like auditorium, theatres and cinemas. 1.5 Meters74
