Analytical ReportCHAPTER 3: POPULATION COMPOSITIONThis chapter presents a description of the composition of household and nonhouseholdpopulation, as well as the ethnic and religious composition of thepopulation.3.1 Composition of the Household PopulationA Household is defined as a group of persons who normally eat and live together.Household composition is a key variable for determining the demographiccharacteristics of a population. It is that variable that classifies households accordingto the relationships between its members. This section therefore highlights the age,sex, number and type of family nuclei, the presence of related and unrelated people.The 2002 Census enumerated only persons present in the household on the CensusNight (De facto Census). The exception was household heads as their characteristicswere recorded whether they were present or absent from the household on the censusnight in order to allow for proper analysis of household / family structures.The spatial distribution of households is given in Table 3.1.
